I went to my colleague's house last Saturday for a yummy dinner with crabs, fish, veggie and soup. Such a satisfying dinner. Anyway, while I was there, I saw this poster that teaches kids the alphabet and I was shocked. Now I can understand why the English level is deteriorating. This was what I saw printed on the poster:

L for Lamp (but shows a picture of a light bulb)

R for Ring (but it shows a picture of a bell...I guess they must be thinking of the verb ring ie ring a bell)

S for Sugar (but shows a picture of sweets)

I mean the poster is for teaching kids...can't the people who produced the poster look up the dictionary before doing up the poster? That is so so sad.

Anyway, talking about languages, I've been going for chinese reading and writing classes for a month. It's giving me a headache to remember how to write all those chinese words. I kinda know around 60 characters already. Erm that means another 2040 characters to go before I can read magazines. Sighz...looks like it's a long long road...

Eh, solly to dissapoint u... but u sure u can read magazine after learning 2040 characters??? I learnt 700 characters per level, and took 4 levels of mandarin... equiavalent to 2800 characters... and I couldn't even read all the words in a primary school kid's book leh!

Can la....teacher said can....San San oso said can....3000 characters is a lot.....actually calculated wrongly...i still 2940 to go...haha....

hmm just like ur sis i wanna warn u of having high hopes in recognizing all these chinese characters... afterall i studied chinese all the way till PMR and yet I can barely read mags and newspaper.. rmb the food experience i had in HK with u ! haha ... so dun place so high hopes.. 1st thing 1st .. u studying the simplified or complicated words.. cos if not mistaken most mags are in complicated word version !!!!
but ... KAMBATE .. good to know and feel good bout the fact that least u attempted!:P

Eh study till PMR should be able to read magazines one la....think study until Std 6 oso can d....I'm learning traditional one la....HK uses traditional characters ma...so really headache cos so many strokes to remember...sighz...and I have an essay due next week....
